Garthside Farm Glamping Pods Review

If you’re looking for a beautiful place to stay in northern England, we highly recommend checking out these cosy glamping pods at Garthside Farm. 

There’s something about glamping that I just love. It’s so much more interesting than a hotel room and I love all the little features and extra touches that make it so unique. 

This is why I was so excited to find these glamping pods on our recent trip to Northumberland. It was the perfect ending to the trip and we had a lovely time here. 

If you’re looking for somewhere unique to stay in England, definitely check these out.

Location

Despite us staying here during our trip to Northumberland, Garthside Farm is actually located in Cumbria, just outside the little town of Brampton. This makes it a great place to stay if you’re visiting either Northumberland, the North Pennines, or even the south of Scotland.

Brampton itself is a 9-minute drive away. Here, you’ll find a selection of pubs, restaurants, supermarkets where you can grab groceries, shops, and petrol stations. 

You’ll also be within 25 minutes of the historic city of Carlisle which has a much larger selection of amenities along with a castle.

We stayed here after spending a few days in Seashouses and it was the perfect way to see both sides of Northumberland.

The Pods

The pods themselves are really cosy. There’s a small kitchenette on the right as you walk in. This is well equipped with an induction hob, a kettle, a microwave, a toaster, and plenty of cooking equipment and crockery. 

There’s an en-suite shower room and a little living area with a small table and a couple of armchairs. Then, there’s a separate section for the bed, complete with squashy pillows and a blanket, perfect for a colder evening. 

One of the things I loved most about this place was the little foyer before you entered the main part of the pod.

This contains a small storage bench, a few more chairs and a table, perfect for breakfast with a view, or sitting and watching the sunrise. It also gives you a place to store your luggage and leave your shoes. 

The owners left us a welcome note with a few mini toy pumpkins (we visited in autumn), and some lollipops. They also left us cookies in the main cabin, milk in the fridge, and a box of firewood in the foyer. 

This was the loveliest touch and made us feel so welcome from the second we arrived.  

Outside

As with many glamping pods, the outside area was just as interesting as the inside. There are 6 pods on site in total (soon to be 7). We stayed in Ash and it had beautiful views over the countryside from right in front of the pod.

Each pod at Garthside has a wood-fired hot tub with beautiful views, a picnic bench and a firepit which doubles as a BBQ. 

We made full use of this and had a lovely BBQ outside, despite it being October when we stayed.

Since the pods are located on a farm, you’ll be surrounded by nature. It’s not perfectly manicured like many hotel gardens and there’s an element of untamed charm that I just loved. It made it seem much more natural, slightly rustic, and connected to wildlife.

You can also see some wildlife from the pods if you’re lucky. There’s a resident owl, you can see deer in the field in the morning, and plenty of wild birds like robins and pheasants.

If you are an early riser, the sunrise from the farm is absolutely breathtaking, with the soft golden light over the fields and trees. It’s a beautiful start to the day and will really make you appreciate the peacefulness of the location.

For those who enjoy exploring, there are also several walking trails nearby and Garthside is within walking distance of a section of Hadrian’s wall.

Inside the pods, you’ll find a booklet full of different walking routes that you can do directly from the farm including a route into Brampton itself. 

Garthside Farm: The Verdict

Overall, we had a perfect stay at Garthside Farm. From the moment we arrived, the charm of the countryside was relaxing. And the little extra touches of a personalised greetings card from the owners was so lovely. 

Having a BBQ outside was one of our favourite moments – sitting under the stars, surrounded by nothing but the crackle of the firepit – and the hot tub added the perfect touch. 

The pods were also really comfortable and we slept well as it was so warm and quiet. Plus, I’m not usually a morning girl, but waking up earlier than usual actually turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. 

The sunrise over Garthside was just stunning. The sun made the whole farm glow golden and the autumn scenery looked even more beautiful than it did during the day. 

So, if you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a peaceful retreat, or simply a chance to reconnect with nature, Garthside Farm is the perfect place to stay. Especially if you love a slower pace of life and the wild beauty of the English countryside.
