UK Travel Guide
The UK has so much to offer. You can visit the rolling hills of the countryside, and the rugged coastlines of Cornwall; wander through adorable towns and villages or immerse yourself in the bustling energy of London’s city streets. I love the UK and, no matter how many times I’ve travelled abroad, I still can’t get enough of exploring my home.
When to Travel to the UK
The UK is known for being rather a rainy destination in Europe. Nonetheless, you can still make it work through most of the year. However, in my experience, March and October do tend to be the wettest months.
Summer, from June to August, is the peak tourist season with long daylight hours, festivals, and outdoor events. It’s a great time to visit iconic attractions like Stonehenge, Buckingham Palace, and Edinburgh Castle, as well as to explore the countryside and coastlines, but prices are undoubtedly higher. Expect busy streets and still the possibility of rain!
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are also great times to visit the UK. The weather is mild, it’s much less crowded, and the prices are lower than during the summer months. It’s certainly wetter than summer, but you’ll get to experience beautiful spring blossoms or vibrant autumn colours, making it a great time for outdoor activities and sightseeing.
Winter, from December to February, can be a magical time to visit the UK, especially around Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The cities are adorned with festive decorations, and there are numerous Christmas markets, ice-skating rinks, and holiday events. However, be prepared for colder weather, shorter daylight hours, and possible closures of some tourist attractions.
Where to travel in The UK
England is home to one of the most popular cities in Europe. It’s a land of contrasts, from the modern metropolis of London to the picturesque countryside of the Cotswolds. The country boasts an array of iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, Stonehenge, and Buckingham Palace, as well as world-class museums, galleries, and theatres.
Northern Ireland is a country of stunning natural beauty, rolling hills, and peaceful lakes. The capital city of Belfast is a vibrant hub of culture and history, with fascinating museums and a thriving arts scene. The Causeway Coastal Route, one of the world’s most scenic drives, takes you along the stunning north coast, past the iconic Giant’s Causeway and the medieval ruins of Dunluce Castle.
Scotland is a land of rugged natural beauty, with towering mountains, serene lochs, and a coastline dotted with picturesque fishing villages. The country is also steeped in history, with castles, abbeys, and ancient ruins scattered throughout the landscape. Explore the historic capital of Edinburgh, sample the famous Scotch whisky, or seek out the elusive Loch Ness Monster.
Wales, often overlooked by travellers, has its own unique charm. The beautiful coastline, rolling hills, and quaint villages make it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Wales is also home to a rich Celtic heritage, with ancient castles, stone circles, and one of the tallest peaks in the UK.

Fun facts about The UK
The biggest city in the UK is London with a population of around 8 million people. The city’s Royal Family is famous around the world – they still reside at Windsor Castle and Queen Elizabeth was the world’s longest-reigning monarch.
The UK is incredibly rich in culture. London alone has over 170 museums and there are 31 UNESCO World Heritage sites throughout England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
When it comes to food, the famous dishes are the roast dinner, English breakfast, and afternoon tea, however, Chicken Tikka (an Indian recipe) is actually the national dish!
It’s estimated that over 165 million cups of tea are drunk by the British every day!
The UK is known for its rainy weather, receiving up to 1,400 mm every year.
There are more Indian restaurants in London than in Indian cities like Mumbai or New Delhi.
