Europe Travel Guide

Europe is so diverse in cultures, stunning landscapes, and rich histories.

From the charming streets of Paris to the bustling markets of Istanbul, to the mountains of the Canary Islands, there’s no shortage of incredible experiences to be had in Europe!

When to Travel to Europe

One of the best things about Europe is that it’s such a diverse continent you really can visit it all year round.

Summer, from June to August, is the peak tourist season with long sunny days, lively outdoor events, and bustling crowds. It’s a great time to visit popular destinations such as Italy, Spain, and Greece, but be prepared for higher prices, longer lines, and crowded attractions.

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are also popular times to visit Europe. The weather is milder, the crowds are thinner, and the prices are lower than during the summer months. You’ll get to experience beautiful blooming flowers in the spring or vibrant foliage in the autumn, making it a great time for outdoor activities and sightseeing.

Winter, from December to February, is the low season in most of Europe, except for ski resorts and popular Christmas markets. It’s a great time to visit cities like Paris, London, and Berlin, which offer beautiful winter scenery, cosy cafes, and Christmas lights. However, be prepared for cold weather, shorter daylight hours, and possible closures of some tourist attractions. It’s also possible le to find winter sun destinations in Europe, like the Spanish Islands and Lisbon.

Fun facts about Europe

The biggest city in Europe is Istanbul with a population of over 15 million people; it’s also the only city in the world that straddles two continents. The next largest cities in Europe are Moscow, London, Madrid, Rome, Paris, and Berlin.

Aside from cities, there are also more UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Europe than in any other continent. This includes The Colosseum in Rome, which is one of the 7 Wonders of the World, and St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City (the largest church in the world,).

Despite this wealth of history, Europe is actually the world’s second-smallest continent. It also contains the world’s smallest country, the Vatican City, in Rome.
