Rhodes is a beautiful Greek island that is perfect for a summer getaway. With its crystal-clear waters and sandy beaches, the island paradise located in the Aegean Sea is known for its stunning beaches and warm Mediterranean climate. 

There are so many beaches in Rhodes to choose from. Hence, why I’ve put together this guide to help you plan your Greek island getaway.

From secluded coves to bustling stretches of soft sand, whether you’re looking to relax in the sun, try your hand at water sports, or explore the island’s rich history, you’ll find the perfect spot on this list.

Where to stay in Rhodes for a Beach Break

There are a variety of accommodation options to choose from in Rhodes, depending on your budget and preferences.

My top picks for a beach break in Rhodes would be Faliraki and Lindos. Both have gorgeous beaches and a wide range of accommodation options from resorts to more affordable guesthouses.

If you’re looking for a more luxurious stay, there are many high-end hotels and resorts (like this one) as well as in the surrounding areas.

If you prefer a more laid-back, authentic experience, there are also many charming guesthouses and bed and breakfasts located in the Old Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

Alternatively, you might consider staying in one of the smaller towns or villages on the island. Here, you’ll find traditional, family-run accommodation options like this. No matter where you choose to stay, you’ll never really be too far from the beautiful beaches of Rhodes.

When we visited the island, we stayed in two locations to split up our trip – a cute apartment in the old town, and a second self-catering apartment in Faliraki.

8 Most Incredible Beaches On the Greek island of Rhodes

Without further ado, here are some of the best beaches in Rhodes for you to explore.

1. Lindos Beach

Lindos Beach is a popular beach located on the east coast of the island. Situated in Lindos village, it’s known for its stunning views and rich history, Acropolis, and traditional whitewashed buildings.

The beach itself is a long stretch of soft, golden sand that slopes gently into the clear blue waters of the Aegean Sea.

There are several restaurants and cafes located along the beach, as well as a number of sun loungers and parasols available for rent. The beach is well-maintained and has facilities for showers and toilets. 

Lindos Beach is known for its stunning views and it is a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing. However, it can be pretty crowded during the peak summer months.

So, if you’re looking for a more secluded beach experience, you might consider exploring one of the smaller coves or bays located around the island.

2. St Paul’s Bay

My personal favourite beach in Rhodes is St Paul’s Bay, a small beach located on the north coast of the island. It is near the village of Lindos and it was during our day trip to Lindos that we visited the beach. 

The bay itself is a small, sheltered cove with a sandy beach and warm waters. The bay is a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing, snorkelling, and boat trips.

You can swim out to where the bay opens up into the open ocean – the change in water temperature here is pretty significant! You can also get gorgeous photography of the bay if you view it from the Acropolis of Lindos above. That was where the photo above was taken from.

3. Faliraki Beach

Faliraki Beach is a stretch of sandy beach located on the island’s east coast. It is situated in the town of the same name; a popular tourist destination known for its beaches, lively atmosphere, and flourishing nightlife.

This was the second place we stayed during our week in Rhodes. It was definitely one of our favourite spots. We found a few wonderful restaurants and had a great time in the evenings exploring the nightlife.

The beach was also beautiful here. It’s wide and flat, with soft, golden sand, and has a variety of water sports and beach activities available. It’s great for those who want to relax or for those who want a more active day on the sand.

Since we are a bit of both, I figured it was a good place in Greece for couples to visit!

4. Kolymbia Beach

Kolymbia Beach is located in the town of the same name. This is only a 15-minute drive from Faliraki, but the vibe of this beach couldn’t be more different.

Instead of wild nightlife, it has a quieter, more laid-back atmosphere. You’ll find shallow water and the hotels in the area are popular among the elderly or with those with young children. As such, the atmosphere is much more relaxed.

The beach itself is wide and flat, mostly sandy, and arguably one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. There are a few restaurants and cafes located nearby if you want to grab a bite to eat while you’re there.

Kolymbia Beach is also a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, and admiring the views.

5. Anthony Quinn Beach

Anthony Quinn Bay is a small, secluded beach located on the east coast of the island. It is named after the actor Anthony Quinn. He visited the bay during his travels to Rhodes and filmed several scenes for the “Guns of Navarone” on this very beach.

The beach is located in a small cove, surrounded by cliffs and pine trees. It is known for its turquoise waters and soft, golden sand. The beach is a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing and has a very peaceful atmosphere and beautiful views.

There are no restaurants or cafes located at Anthony Quinn Bay, so it is a good idea to bring your own food and drinks if you plan to spend the day there.

6. Prasonisi Beach

Prasonisi Beach is located on the southern tip of the island, in the village of Prasonisi. The beach is different from other beaches in Rhodes because it’s the joining of two oceans.

On one side of this beach, you’ll find the Mediterranean Sea, and on the other, the Aegean Sea. You can literally swim in two different oceans while you’re there.

Prasonisi Beach is also a popular spot for wind-surfing and kite surfing due to its strong winds. However, this is usually only on one side of the beach.

On the other side, you’ll usually find calmer atmospheres, making this an incredibly unique place to visit.

7. Tsambika Beach

Easily one of the most beautiful beaches in Rhodes, Tsambika Beach is located on the eastern coast of the island. The beach is known for its soft sand and crystal-clear waters. It attracts both sunbathing tourists and pilgrims visiting the nearby Tsambika Monastery. 

Tsambika Beach is also a popular spot for water sports, beach volleyball, and dining at the local taverns and beach bars. You can rent sun loungers and umbrellas, and there are beach showers available for use.

8. Kallithea Beach

This picturesque slice of paradise is located on the island’s eastern coastline. It’s mostly known for its crystalline turquoise waters and golden sands. It’s quintessentially Mediterranean and undeniably a beautiful bay.

The bay is surrounded by rugged cliffs and lush greenery. There are a range of activities available on the beach too from leisurely sunbathing on one of the many sunbeds and swimming in the blue waters to snorkelling among the vibrant marine life.

The area’s rich history adds to its draw. Nearby, you’ll find the iconic Kallithea Springs with its stunning architecture and therapeutic waters. You can also explore the town of Kallithea itself with its cobblestones, fountains, and historic buildings.

Which part of Rhodes has the best beaches

Some of the most beautiful beaches of Rhodes are located in the town of Faliraki, which is known for its sandy stretches and vibrant nightlife.

Other popular beach towns include Kallithea, which has several natural thermal springs. Or, Ixia Beach which is located just west of Rhodes town and is known for its windsurfing conditions. 

Another beach that is worth considering is Lindos. Located on the east coast of the island, it’s known for its whitewashed buildings and stunning views of the Aegean Sea. Lindos is a popular destination for tourists, so it can be quite crowded during the peak summer months.

Suppose you’re looking for a more secluded beach experience. In that case, there are also many smaller sandy coves and bays located around the island that are less crowded and offer a more peaceful atmosphere.

My personal favourite beach in Rhodes, however, is St Paul’s Bay. This stunning beach is in the shape of a heart (if you’re viewing it from above). It’s perfect for swimming, snorkelling, or sunbathing, and close to the traditional town of Lindos.
