If you’ve started wondering where the best Easter holiday destinations are, then you’re in the right place. These are my 13 favourite places to visit at Easter.
When Christmas is over, people’s minds tend to turn to Easter. Especially if supermarket shelves are anything to go by! I swear, as soon as it hits January 1st, the Cream Eggs start magically appearing on the shelves…
However, if you don’t fancy staying at home and stuffing your face with Cream Eggs (I can understand if you do, though), you might start dreaming about blue skies, sunshine, and sandy beaches.
I absolutely love travelling at Easter. With two bank holidays and so many wonderful places to travel to that are still often more affordable than the summer, it’s an easy way to see more of the world without using up too much PTO.
I’ve planned a 10-day trip to Italy before, and only had to book off 4 days! It was fantastic.
So, if you’re planning an Easter escape and need some inspiration, here are the 13 best Easter travel destinations to visit this year!

1. Malta
Average Temperature: 20°C / 68°F
Malta is one of the best places in Europe to go for winter sun. As such, it’s not a bad place for springtime sun either!
There are a lot of great things to do packed into this little island. The historic temples are fascinating (I watched a documentary about how the temples predate ancient Egypt!), and the old cities and towns are beautiful.
I loved wandering through Mdina, and we stayed in the old town of Rabat, which was so pretty, especially in the evenings when all the lights lit up the narrow alleyways.
The beaches in Malta are also pretty spectacular, with sandy shores perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Plus, you can take several boat trips to more spectacular spots along the coast.
I highly recommend taking a boat to the Blue Grotto, also visiting the Blue Lagoon – both are really pretty – and doing a day trip to Gozo.
2. Amsterdam, Netherlands
Average Temperature: 13°C / 55°F
Early spring means the beginning of the tulip season in the Netherlands. If you’ve ever wanted a chance to see these magnificent flowers in bloom, taking a trip to Amsterdam will be one of the best Easter holiday destinations.
There are plenty of places you can see the tulips near the city – many only require a short train ride to reach them.
Outside of admiring the beautiful flower fields, there is plenty to keep you busy during a long weekend in Amsterdam.
Explore the famous museums (the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum are some of the best), head to the Heineken Experience, go for a cruise on the canals, and admire the architecture of the buildings.
If you also fancy a bit of carefree fun, take another short train ride to the incredible theme park of Efetling. We visited this amusement park during our first trip to the Netherlands (because we won a prize!). It’s great fun – ideal for the whole family.
3. New York City, USA
Average Temperature: 18°C / 64°F
New York City is one of my favourite cities in the world. I love the buzz, the energy, the lights in Times Square, the high-rise buildings… It’s one of those cities that you can visit again and again and never get bored.
Around Easter time, the city has perfect weather for exploring. You might get the occasional shower, but the sun will likely be shining. This beats the summer months when the heat in the city can get quite unbearable.
If you’re spending a few days in New York, you can relax in Central Park, head to the top of the One World Observatory, take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty, and explore the Rockerfella Centre.
You can also watch a Broadway Show, see a baseball game, or even go on a shopping spree. But if you do this, I highly recommend taking a bus to the outlet malls in New Jersey because they’re much more affordable!
4. Antalya, Turkey
Average Temperature: 21°C / 70°F
In my opinion, Turkey is much better in the off-season. We visited Antalya in October, and it was the ideal time to visit. However, you’ll find similar temperatures and crowd levels around easter time, which makes it one of the best Easter holiday destinations this year.
There’s also so much to do in Antalya. The history around this city is wonderful. I highly recommend visiting the ancient city of Perge.
You can also travel down to Side (you’ll likely need a whole day here), and take a trip further south of the city to the ruins of Olympos and Phaselis.
When we did this, we hired a taxi driver for a day to take us to all of the stops. This was super easy to do and allowed us to explore at our own pace.
As well as an ancient history, Antalya has a beautiful old town, several great beaches (Konyaalti and Lara are my favourites) and, of course, plenty of fantastic Turkish food! Well worth a visit in the springtime.
5. The Canary Islands, Spain
Average Temperature: 22°C / 71°F
The Canary Islands are a popular destination to visit in Europe. Yet, it’s much better to head to the Canary Islands during the Easter season than try to tackle the summer crowds.
The islands are some of the warmest places in Europe. I kid you not, you can even expect warm temperatures in January or February! In early April, you will almost definitely be able to catch a sun tan.
The Canaries are so much more than beautiful beaches, though – although they certainly have plenty of those! They’re all volcanic islands, meaning they are prime spots for hiking.
You can explore some wonderful volcanic landscapes such as the Teide National Park in Tenerife and the Timanfaya National Park in Lanzarote. These landscapes are ideal for a range of activities from dirt biking to climbing.
It’s also worth exploring some of the towns and traditional villages on the Canary Islands. Some are super cute, and many are steeped in history. Plus, the traditional restaurants serving paella and tapas are well worth visiting!
6. Paris, France
Average Temperature: 17°C / 62°F
The City of Light seems to make everyone’s bucket list over and over again – me included, as I love exploring Paris. Like London, it’s one of the best European city breaks, and there’s so much to see.
It’s also one of the best Easter destinations due to a combination of factors. First of all, Paris is hardly considered a ‘cheap place to travel’. In fact, it’s quite the opposite, frequently coming in as one of the most expensive places to visit in Europe.
However, spring is typically much more affordable than the summer months. Although you may see a spike in prices over the actual Easter weekend, be sure to book in advance.
Secondly, the cherry blossoms. If you’ve ever wanted to see cherry blossoms in Paris, early spring is the time to do it. The blossoms look beautiful, especially around the Eiffel Tower and the Jardin des Plantes.
With fantastic art museums like the Louvre and more unusual attractions like the catacombs, Paris can be a fantastic place for lovers of culture. But with Disneyland Paris just a short train ride away, it can also be an ideal destination for all the family.
7. Orlando, USA
Average Temperature: 29°C / 84°F
If you’re after a wonderful combination of water parks, rollercoasters, and Mickey Mouse, Orlando is one of the best Easter holiday destinations.
The central Florida city is the theme park capital of the world, known for its amusement parks, with over 18 crammed into Orlando. This means plenty of opportunity for little ones to run wild, or for adults to embrace their inner child!
I like theme parks – in moderation. I couldn’t visit the same ones over and over again. But every now and then, I don’t mind whizzing down a log flume. Anything with a loop-the-loop makes me seriously nauseous though!
During our week in Orlando, we visited Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Bush Gardens, Walt Disney World, a few waterparks, and much more.
The temperature will be hot enough to enjoy the water activities, and you’re almost guaranteed to have a good laugh. And, if you’re a Harry Potter fan, you can also visit some of your favourite sets!
8. Rhodes, Greece
Average Temperature: 20°C / 68°F
This was the first place I ever visited in Greece and it has left a lasting impression. I love Rhodes. It’s such a beautiful island. But, whereas Mykonos is beautiful in an iconic sort of way, Rhodes effortlessly combines sandy beaches with centuries-old history.
If you plan to visit Rhodes over the Easter break, you’re almost guaranteed to have warm weather.
This means you can enjoy many of the beaches (although the water might be too cold for swimming), walk up to the top of the Acropolis in Lindos without getting horribly out of breath, and also enjoy a few outdoor adventures.
I recommend planning a trip to Seven Springs. It’s beautiful there, and spring is a great time to explore the hiking trails. I also suggest visiting Lindos, exploring the town, and wandering around the historical old town of Rhodes.
It’s stunning and contains so much history. There’s also some seriously good food here because, let’s be honest, Greek food is fantastic.
9. Iceland
Average Temperature: 6°C / 42°F
One of my favourite countries in the world, I am in love with Iceland. I visited Iceland in December and again in the spring and can confirm it’s a fantastic Easter holiday destination.
The country is packed full of natural wonders, ideal for those who love hiking and exploring the outdoors. Be sure to visit the south coast and see some of Iceland’s magnificent waterfalls.
You’ll also find some fantastic black sand beaches in the south, glaciers, and glacier lagoons. Over Easter, you might even still be able to visit some ice caves.
I also recommend visiting the Golden Circle. You can do this either via a guided tour or by yourself with a hire car. To be honest, for a trip to Iceland in late March or April I recommend hiring a car and driving yourself.
Tours in Iceland aren’t cheap, and a car gives you the freedom to see things at your own pace. Also, you’ll be able to spend more time at each destination if you go on a road trip instead of heading back to Reykjavik every evening.
Reykjavik itself is still well worth visiting, though. You can explore museums such as Whales of Iceland, Perlan, and the curious Phallological Museum. Plus, don’t forget to take a trip to the infamous Blue Lagoon.
You might even be able to see the Northern Lights on an Easter getaway, too, so it really is the ideal time to see the best of Iceland.

10. Oman
Average Temperature: 32°C / 89°F
Oman is still a hidden gem when it comes to travel destinations, but it’s also one to add to the bucket list. Located in the Middle East, Oman is an Arabic country next to the UAE. Its capital, Muscat, is about 4 hours drive from Dubai.
When it comes to what to do there, Oman is nothing short of stunning. The country has a range of landscapes from the vast desert of Wahiba Sands to the towering mountains of Jebel Shams. Explore souks, goat markets, lively cities, pristine beaches and stay in luxury hotels.
You can also swim in sinkholes and deep canyons, and explore vibrant turquoise oases in the middle of the desert. You can even visit tropical islands and swim with turtles!
If you do decide to visit Oman, I highly recommend hiring a car and exploring more of the country than simply the capital. There is a lot to see and, like in Iceland, tours and transfers are quite expensive.
But unlike Iceland, fuel is not. I think we paid about £15 to fill up our tank with fuel when we were driving around the country. It would’ve cost more than double that to fill up in the UK.
11. The UK
Average Temperature: 15°C / 59°F
Speaking of the UK, let’s not overlook this country as one of the best Easter holiday destinations. In fact, I’d say that spring is a wonderful time to explore the UK.
You’ll get decent weather without the horrible crowds and higher prices that mid-summer brings. And there’s lots to see in the UK in the spring.
Places like the Cotswolds and Canterbury come alive with wildflowers. You’ll find bluebells flowering all over the meadows and woodland near cities like Cambridge, and London will also be in full bloom with floral displays in many of the city’s most popular gardens.
Plus, the UK doesn’t even have to be an expensive destination to visit. You can visit many destinations without paying a penny – especially London, as there are so many free attractions.
If you head down to the south around Dorset and the Jurassic Coast, you can also explore here mostly for free by visiting the beaches, hunting for fossils, and admiring the natural wonders. This is the same with popular holiday destinations like Cornwall and Devon.
Even heading out of England, Scotland and Wales are also beautiful at this time of year, although it might be a little rainier.
But it’s well worth visiting cities like Edinburgh in the north. It’s even a good time to hire a car and drive around the Scottish Highlands.
And if you enjoy outdoor activities, you can’t miss exploring Snowdonia in Wales and climbing the UK’s highest peak.
12. Costa Rica
Average Temperature: 30°C / 86°F
From gardens of wildflowers to tropical rainforests full of very different types of plants, if you want an exotic easter holiday, you can’t go wrong with Costa Rica.
One of the more off-the-beaten-path places to travel in the springtime, Costa Rica typically gets busier around the winter months. However, April is still a good time to visit – you just might experience a few more tropical showers!
Despite this, it’s almost worth it for the pure beauty of the country alone. Costa Rica is the perfect combination of jungles, waterfalls, eco-lodge hotels, and adventure activities.
If you’ve ever dreamed of ziplining across the jungle and swimming in a waterfall before heading back to your hotel for a massage and a spa session, you’ll love this country.
Furthermore, it’s a great place for nature lovers as it has a wonderful variety of natural parks, great for spotting birds and animals that you would never see back home.
13. Jordan
Average Temperature: 26°C / 78°F
If the wonders of the world are your thing, Jordan is easily one of the best easter holiday destinations for you! The Middle Eastern country has some of the friendliest locals you’ll ever meet and wonderful hospitality.
This, like Oman, is another country where you can explore mountains during the day and then sleep in a camp in the middle of the desert overnight.
You can also visit castles and forts, go hiking, watch some of the most spectacular sunsets in the world, float in the Dead Sea, and so much more.
If you visit Jordan, no doubt there are two main things on your bucket list – Wadi Rum desert and Petra. Petra alone needs pretty much a full day to explore.
The city is vast and incredible, and visiting in the daytime and in the nighttime will give you two completely different experiences. And trust me, it’s pretty special to see the Treasury all lit up.
Plus, you’re almost guaranteed good weather in spring, so it’s the ideal time to visit for some warmth while avoiding the roasting heat of the summer months.

Overall, I think I will always travel at Easter. It’s such a perfect time to get away with so many wonderful places to see and parts of the world to explore. Plus, the two bank holidays make it much easier when it comes to booking time off.
